Operation Smile sends essential medications and medical supplies to support the Gaza hospitals

Operation Smile Jordan (OSJ) has shipped cargo containing medications and medical supplies to Gaza hospitals. The shipment was sent with the coordination of Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization (JHCO) convoy which left Jordan heading directly to Gaza.

The OSJ donation is part of the Jordan national effort to support the deteriorating health sector in Gaza.

This donation, with a total value of USD $50,000, was funded by Operation Smile, based in Virginia Beach, VA, USA. The medical supplies were purchased and prepared for shipping with the support and assistance of the Specialty Hospital in Amman.

Operation Smile Jordan has forged a partnership with JHCO, which was established in 1990 as a multi-functional relief and humanitarian foundation to provide direct humanitarian aid to countries and people in need in more than 34 countries around the world. JHCO assists people all over the world who are suffering from the consequences of conflict, natural disasters, poverty, and underdevelopment regardless of their religion and origin.

Operation Smile Jordan, a Jordanian NGO established in 2004 as part of Operation Smile’s global structure, provides comprehensive and timely cleft care to children affected by cleft conditions in Jordan and neighboring countries, including free reconstructive surgery and medical treatment, in addition to scars and burns. Operation Smile has been providing free, life-changing cleft surgeries to children in need for the past 39 years, delivering expertise, equipment, training, and compassion to those most in need.  Through this partnership between OSJ, JHCO, and Gaza’s medical institutions, Operation Smile will continue to increase capacity, surgical safety, and quality care for the people of Gaza.
