Amman, 20 April 2022

Operation Smile Jordan sent two dentists from its local volunteers to attend a specialized training course in the field of cleft lip and cleft palate, which was held in Morocco, to train them in the preparation and installation of the NAM (Nasoalveolar Modeling) device, as this is part of operation smile Jordan’s objectives towards achieving comprehensive health care on time.

The NAM (Nasoalveolar Modeling) device is a supportive tool for preoperative treatment used to reduce the size of the cleft or throat deformity in the lip, gums, and nose before surgical repair, that it’s put into the top of a baby’s mouth after the first week of his birth.

The organization will provide the device to the children registered in its records for free, to better prepare them for operations and reduce the occurrence of any complications.

Operation Smile is working to execute its plan by providing comprehensive care for patients with cleft lip and cleft palate, as it’s currently also planning to provide orthodontic treatment, including bringing out experienced and qualified doctors, and preparing the system for that, to provide orthodontic treatment for children who had Surgical treatment of cleft lip and cleft palate through the organization.
