Bonegraft for patients with cleft

First “Alveolar bone graft Surgical Program”.

As part of the organization’s goals to implement the concept of comprehensive medical care for patients with cleft lip and palate, Operation Smile Jordan organized its first free monthly surgical program “WeekendSmile” for this year on Friday, January 27 at the Speciality hospital in Amman. A specialized medical team of Jordanian volunteers performed surgeries to correct the gums through bone implants for cleft lip cases.

These Programs are part of the organization’s goals to implement the concept of comprehensive medical care for cases of cleft lip and palate, where these children require medical care that includes pre-operative care (swallowing and feeding treatment, as well as the installation of FMO device that reduces the size of the incision before surgery), added to post-operative care ( Speech and language therapy, bone graft, and orthodontic treatment).

In the coming months, the organization plans to organize a medical workshop on the effects of language and speech therapy on cleft lip and palate patients, as well as a free international surgical program to treat cases of cleft lip, cleft palate, and burns.
